What is the difference between full and partial dentures?
Full dentures are used to replace an entire arch of teeth, which means they can be used to replace all of the top teeth, all of the bottom teeth, or both. They are designed to fit comfortably in the mouth and use a suction seal to remain in place. Partial dentures are used if several teeth in a row are missing, and they are secured in the mouth with a metal clasp that clips onto nearby teeth. Both full and partial dentures are custom made and created to look and feel like natural teeth.
Are dentures better than dental implants?
Neither service is objectively better than the other, and both are excellent tooth replacement options. Dentures are removable, making them easy to clean, and they are also less expensive than dental implants. Dentures are less invasive than implants, as they rest on top of the gums. Dental implants have to be surgically placed in the gums which makes them very sturdy, and they don’t require any special treatment. Our team can work with you to determine which treatment will be the most effective for you at your next appointment.
Can dentures stain?
Like natural teeth, dentures can stain, especially if a patient enjoys drinks like coffee, tea, red wine, and dark-colored sodas on a regular basis. Fortunately, stains are relatively easy to remove from dentures. You can make stain-removing solutions at home using white vinegar, baking soda, or hydrogen peroxide, or you can buy special denture bleach to soak them in. The best way to keep your dentures looking nice and even in color, aside from avoiding certain foods and drinks, is by cleaning them regularly and thoroughly.
